Our love story, His side
Laura is a hard worker, has a giving nature, is intelligent, and loves to cook. When we met, we talked for hours about everything hospital and healthcare related. She has a beautiful smile that lights up a room and is honest and owns up to past mistakes, which I found and still find refreshing.
My love languages are physical touch and acts of service (specifically, food made with love), and luckily for me, Laura loves feeding people. She takes the time to create a masterpiece for all your senses. This love for food and creative spirit is part of the Deer Ridge story.
Laura has an eye for detail, and she is a perfectionist, while I am not. We complement each other in that way. She loves to entertain, and I love creating whatever she feels she needs to throw an amazing party. I built her an outdoor kitchen because she loves the pool and being outdoors (in the heat-she will tell you; she was not built for winter). I built the outdoor kitchen from an old barn we had on the property; in the summers the kitchen is where everyone hangs out when not in the pool. This reusing of the barn wood and pallet racking from a previous business I owned was the beginning of the Deer Ridge Estate repurpose and reuse philosophy.

Deer Ridge Estate
Deer Ridge Estate is located on 160 picturesque acres, overlooking a pond, and encircled by many trees. The estate includes a 10,000-square foot lodge that can accommodate small and large events. The lodge has concrete floors, heating and air-conditioning, large restrooms, a commercial kitchen, built in bar, a mezzanine with an additional bar area and seating, two covered porches, a deck overlooking the pond, a circle drive for drop off and pick up and plenty of parking.
The Estate also has an open-air chapel and the ability to host services inside or outdoors. It is possible to have the service and reception in the same location. There are four bedrooms with on-suite bathrooms, plus Bride and Groom’s dressing rooms with access to their own private deck. Your entire wedding party can prepare for your special day in one place, with plenty of space and privacy!

They say not to build with your spouse, it can be a relationship ender. This was not the case for us. This was a blessing to our relationship. We spent quality time together talking through all of the thoughtful details. This process spoke to my love languages and truly was the best several years of my life.

Where we began
Deer Ridge holds a lot of history within its bones, each part of our venue has a beautiful story behind it, and we wanted a way to document and share them with you. We have a lot in store for you and the blog, but first, we decided to share the becoming of Deer Ridge Estate.
